Remote job boards show thousands of roles, but most are region-locked in a way the title hides.
Read the location line closely
"Remote" alone is meaningless. "Remote EU", "Remote US", or "Remote (within 2 hours of CET)" are the real constraints. Filter by the region, not the word remote.
Ask in the first conversation
If the region is unclear, ask directly. It saves both sides a wasted interview loop.
Timezone overlap beats timezone match
What matters is the overlap window, not where you sleep. A three-hour overlap can be plenty for async work, and painful for meeting-heavy roles.
